Meditation is not a religion, although various religions use meditation techniques.

Through the practice of meditation one can come to discern a core of truth that is common to all the world’s great religions and teachings. People with a religious faith may gain a greater understanding of that faith but to meditate you do not need to hold to any set of beliefs.

The School of Meditation offers no dogma, and is inclusive in its approach, not exclusive. Although we have received the meditation from a tradition based in India, Shri Shantananda Saraswati, who gave us words of great wisom and guidance on meditation, stressed that what had been given was not just Indian but universal. More details of this are available in our book 'Being Oneself - the way of meditation" which is available from the School's London office.
